Obituary of Jani Herrell

Jani Herrell July 2, 1975 – June 2, 2021 Jani Herrell was a loving mother, sister, friend, and nurse. Jani passed away on June 2, 2021 at the age of 45 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. She was born to Sheila Skinner and James Hughes on July 2, 1975. “Nurse Jani” graciously served her community as a family nurse practitioner, and worked at NextCare Urgent Care since 2016. She fought on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic and always offered an optimistic smile to those in her care. The very definition of love and light, Jani made friends everywhere she went. Her infectious laugh and passion for life touched the hearts of many, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand. Everybody knows that the party never started until Jani walked in; her famous Halloween parties and Jeep rides remain some of my fondest memories with this free-spirited woman. She was a mother to many, defining the phrase “it takes a village.” Jani encouraged many to follow their dreams, aiding in the creation of Maggie’s Lab Cab and mentoring countless young women, including her own sister, during their journeys through nursing school. She worked tirelessly to provide education to her daughters. There aren’t enough words to describe the impact Jani had on those around her and the joy she so effortlessly brought to the world. She is survived by “her babies” Aubry and Abby Herrell. A celebration of life is scheduled for 6pm on July 17, 2021 at the La Paz County Boating Safety Facility.
