Obituary of Arvie Edwards

Arvie Edwards Jr passed away on Saturday October 20, 2012 in Lake Havasu City at the age of 89. Arvie was born on May 11, 1923 in Birchleaf, Virginia to Arvie and Vernie (Counts) Edwards.
In October of 1943, Arvie enlisted in the United States Navy proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in December of 1945. Upon returning to civilian life, Arvie worked at an auto factory in Detroit. When the Korean War began, Arvie re-enlisted, this time in the United States Air Force and served his country from December of 1951 until retiring in May of 1971.
In 1971 Arvie and his family relocated to Lake Havasu City and he went to work for the McCulloch Corporation as a machine operator. He retired for good in 1988 after close to 17 years of dedicated service.
Arvie enjoyed working in his yard and was an avid baseball fan, following the Cubs, Detroit Tigers and the Diamondbacks. He was also an active member of Masonic Lodge #64 in Lake Havasu City. What his family remembers most is Arvie was a wonderful husband and father.
Arvie is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Patricia, son Dean Edwards of Corona, CA; daughter Cheryl Reynolds and her husband Charles of Brookings, Or; brothers Gary Edwards, Vonnie Yates and Rosco Edwards, all of Birchleaf, VA; sisters-in-law Carol Fling of Scottsdale, AZ and Connie Zipf of Chicago, IL; and brother-in-law Fred Kruizenga of Hasting, MI and grandchildren Riley, Gianna, Obed, Elijah, Jordan and Christy.
Services will be held on Friday October 26, 2012 at 2:00 PM. At Masonic Lodge Free and Accepted Masons beginning with military honors rendered by VFW Post 9401 and American Legion Post 81 followed by the Masonic Rite performed by members of Lodge 64.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arvie's name to the Breast Cancer Foundation or the Lake Havasu Senior Center.
