Derek Neil Walton Date of death March 19th, 2021 Derek Neil Walton departed family, friends and loved ones after a lengthy illness at the age of 84 at Havasu Regional Hospital in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Derek was born in Sunderland, London England January 28th, 1937 to Ernest and Amy Walton. He grew up in Pinner Middlesex, England. He graduated from a University and earned his Bachelor’s degree. He later became a Senior Liaison Engineer with a major aircraft company in El Segundo, CA. He met me at the age of 14 at the time, when he was 19, at the Wembley Town Hall in London, England. From the very first time we met it was love at first sight. We were married on June 6th, 1959 at St. Mary’s church in London, England. We would have been married 62 years as of this June 6th, 2021. Originally from London, England where we moved to Canada, and then to the United States where we lived in Westchester, CA for 21 years. We fell in love with Lake Havasu, Arizona in the early 1980’s while visiting the Sea Plane Classic events and moved permanently to Lake Havasu in 2002. With the background in Engineering he developed the love of making model R/C boats and airplanes. He was a member of the Havasu Sport Flyers and the Desert Hawks. He loved going indoor flying at the Aquatic center once a month. Interests he also enjoyed include Formula 1 racing, reading and watching science fiction, long drives in the early years, he loved Lake Havasu sunsets and lighting storms from the back porch, with his loving wife making animals out the clouds while drinking tea. He had a big heart for his pets Kenny the collie dog and Lacey the cat among may others over the past years. We had 5 beautiful children Lynnette Karen Walton, Graham Barrie Walton, Lesley Anne Walton, Melanie Jane Walton and Kimberley Rae Walton. He was preceded in death by his son Graham Barrie Walton and Lynnette Karen Rochlis. He is survived by his loving wife Cynthia “Cindy” Walton and his daughters Lesley Anne Weir, Melanie Jane Walton-Yamashita and Kimberley Rae Walton. His four grandchildren Thomas Neil Weir, Cassandra Haley Weir, Noah Alexander Wright and Aidan Nicholas Wright. He has 3 son in laws Scott Richard Rochlis, Donnie Weir and Michael K Yamashita. He will be so dearly missed. This isn’t goodbye but “Terrea”. I will catch you on the other side my best friend, my one true love, my husband. One day again we will walk hand in hand along the green fields together. The family will have a small private ceremony with loved ones at home. Services were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Thoughts and condolences can be sent to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.
