SALLY DOROTHY HERO Sally Dorothy Hero passed away on October 27, 2012 in Lake Havasu City, AZ at the age of 81. She was born on February 2, 1931 in New Orleans, Louisiana to George and Catherine (Slusarz) Kinsey. Sally moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana when she was three years old, her parents died when she and her brother were very young and they were brought up in an orphanage. Sally was raised by the same nuns that raised her mother and she was sent to a convent boarding school for her high school years. Sally worked in Chicago where she met her first husband Glenn Eggers. She attended Purdue University and studied pharmacy. She and her husband visited Lake Havasu City several times and enjoyed it so much that they moved here in 1966. After moving to Arizona, Sally switched her major to education and attended Northern Arizona University. In her senior year, her husband passed away, but Sally continued her education, receiving her master's degree and certification. Sally moved back to Lake Havasu City and began teaching. She continued her education and earned a degree in administration. Sally taught Language Inprovement to kindergarten through second grade pupils and remedial reading to third through sixth graders. Sally was the Readng Coordinator for the district and, when Title I was in effect, she was the Regional Director. She also taught extension classes for Northern Arizona University and Chapman College. in 1993, Sally retired from teaching after 20 years of service. She also served on the Mohave Community College Governing Board for 25 years. in 2006, MCC dedicated the Student Services Building on the Lake Havasu Campus to honor Sally and her husband Lenny. In 1982 Sally met Lenny Hero and they were married until he passed away in 2006. Sally was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Phi Kappa Phi, London Bridge Republican Women and Lake Havasu City Historical Society. She enjoyed reading, politics, playing bridge and spending time with her friends. She also loved her dogs Mumbles and Emily and her cat, Kitty. Sally is survived by her loving son Hank Eggers of Brea, CA and 2 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her children, Grace Ann and John and her two husbands Glenn and Lenny. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Sally's name to Hospice of Havasu 365 S. Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday November 3, 2012 at the Lietz-Fraze Chapel at 1:00 PM. with words of comforts being said by Father Lawrence and Chaplain Kathy Kenney.
