Jean Burns passed away on February 13, 2021 at the age of 93 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. She was born in Quincy, Mississippi on July 10, 1927 to Amos and Bessie Crump. Jean was loved by all who knew her. She had so much life experience and was a joy to talk to. She had worked as a telegrapher for the Frisco Railroad, a Civil Servant for the Long Beach Naval Yard, and held various positions in healthcare. She lived in Quincy, Mississippi for the first eighteen years then moved to Long Beach, California where she met and married the love of her life, Eugene Burns, on August 8, 1948. They also lived in Pocatello, Idaho, Los Angeles, California, and Denver, Colorado. They settled in Lake Havasu City, and have been here for the last thirty years. Jean was very active in the community. She was active in the Marine Corps Auxiliary, with the honor of being a lifetime member; also PEO and Daughters of the Nile. She belonged to First Baptist Church, London Bridge Republican Committee, and Lake Havasu City Museum of History. Jean is preceded in death by her parents; Amos and Bessie Crump; brothers George, Dick, Steve, Billy, Doug, and Ralph. Sisters Johnny Mae, Gertrude, Katie and Sarah. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years; Gene Burns, sons; Steve, Tom, and Dave Burns; sister, Evelyn Gibson; seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at Elks Lodge, May 2nd, 2021 @ 2pm In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
