Obituary of Betty Jean Myers

Betty Jean Myers passed away peacefully on February 3, 2021, with family by her side. She was born Betty Jean Lough to parents Greshem and Orpha Lough in 1934 in Leiters Ford, Indiana. She had three younger siblings, Monte, Patricia and Marilyn. Betty graduated Richland Center High School in 1952. Betty enjoyed roller skating at the local rink and was crowned Queen for a month. There, she met Merle Myers. They married in 1956 and built their first home near Plymouth, Indiana, with the help of family and friends. After the loss of their firstborn, Kurt, they were blessed with a daughter, Kimberly, in 1958. That year, the family moved to California and settled in Riverside. Kathy was born in 1961. They moved to Rowland Heights in 1966. Betty and Merle retired to Lake Havasu City in 1992. Betty loved camping, bowling, monthly Canasta with friends. She sewed coordinated outfits for herself and her girls. She was actively involved in her children's interests including: PTA, Softball, Campfire Girls, Drill Team. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting beautiful things for others to enjoy. She had a talent for tole painting. As a member of the Havasu Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for several years, many of her creations were donated to the craft boutiques, with proceeds benefitting others. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Dee Myers; son, Kurt Myers; brother Monte Lough; and sister, Marilyn Alber. Betty is survived by her sister Patricia Rogers, daughters Kimberly Myers and Kathy Webb, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, step-son Terry Myers and grandchildren. Betty was selfless and found joy in giving. Family was her priority. Her sparkling eyes and beautiful smile will be missed. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, February 27, 2021 at Lietz-Fraze Mortuary in Lake Havasu City. Services were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
