Harris Hartje
March 26, 1933 – February 1, 2021
Harris D. Hartje, 87, passed away February 1, 2021 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Harris was born March 26, 1933 in Glasston, North Dakota to Myrtle Anderson and adopted by Henry and Ada Hartje. Harris married the love of his life, Betty Paul, December 30, 1953 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Together they shared 67 years of marriage and were blessed with two children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Harris retired as a Partner in food processing for Redi Cut Foods. He and Betty have called Lake Havasu City, Arizona home for the last 20 years. Harris enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, watching sports, golfing, cooking and barbecuing and his Lamb of God Men’s Bible Study Group.
He was a Founding Member and Elder at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, volunteered at the Lake Havasu City – Food Bank, and celebrated 20+ years with Alcoholics Anonymous.
Harris was preceded in death by his wife Betty Hartje, his parents, Henry and Ada Hartje, his daughter Deena Gnatowsky, his sisters Louise Dusterhoft, Myrtle Anderson, Irene McKechney, Dorothy Busch, Violet Warner, Mildred Hartje and Ruth Dhondt, his brothers, Clifford Hartje, Orville Hartje, Lorin Hartje, Russell Hartje, Allen Hartje, Henry Hartje Jr. and Daryl Anderson.
Harris is survived by his son, Tracey (June) Hartje of Johnsburg, IL, grandchildren; Lindsey (Brad) Olles of Cary, IL, Tyler (Carolina) Hartje of Livonia, MI, Tiffany (Victor) Rodriguez of Las Vegas, NV, Ashley (Michael) Passero of Menifee, CA, Derek (Emily) Gnatowsky of Oak Park, CA, great-grandchildren; Desiree and Cash Rodriguez of Las Vegas, NV, Charlee and Hazel Passero of Menifee, CA, sisters Marlene Murtonen of Alexandria, MN and Mavis (Al) Coen of Fargo, ND.
