Barney Lee Glenn, Lt Colonel, USAF, passed away on November 1, 2012 at the age of 92 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Barney was born on August 2, 1920 in Corvallis, Oregon to Arthur and Goldie (Cram) Glenn.
Lt Colonel Glenn proudly served his country and the US Air Force for 28 years. He was a veteran of three wars beginning with WWII as a navigator on the "Uninvited", a B-24 Bomber. He flew over 40 missions. He also saw action in the Korean War and navigated a C-118 Aero MediVac Unit, flying into Vietnam while stationed in Japan and the Philippines. He was honored to assist in the transportation of wounded soldiers to the hospital at Clark AB, Philippines for care.
Lt Colonel Glenn received numerous medals and awards during his military service including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Upon retirement in 1970, Barney enjoyed giving back to the community. He served as a Chaplain for the Sacramento CA branch of Masons where he received the Hiram Award for utmost dedication. Locally, he was active with the Marines League and the Republican Men's Group. Above all, Lt Colonel Glenn, loved his God, his country, and his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mildred Glenn of Lake Havasu City, AZ; son, Phillip Glenn of Rescue, CA; L. Sue Woods of Tampa, FL; Patricia Phillips of Bend, OR; and Denise Christensen of Franktown, CO; five grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. It was a life well-lived, he will be missed.
