Elaine Nicol of Lake Havasu City passed away December 18, 2020. She was born on on Summit Ridge in Wisconsin on July 30, 1926 to George and Frances (Berendes) Hedrick, the oldest of 10 children.
Elaine graduated from Sparta High School and went on to a business school in Minneapolis. She returned to work in retail in Sparta and there met her husband and the love of her life, Francis N. Nicol. They were married in 1950 and a year later moved to Tucson, Arizona, a city and state they both fell in love with. She was employed in Sears credit department until their family of three children filled their lives. After a move to San Diego, Elaine earned her realtors license and worked in that field until her retirement and the move back to their beloved state of Arizona. Throughout her life, Elaine was a faithful Catholic and volunteered her spare time with her parishes, both at St. Michaels and Our Lady of the Lake. She was proud to be a lector at both parishes. She also volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul Society and Hospice of Havasu. After losing her husband shortly after moving to Lake Havasu, she made many friends at Havasu’s Senior Center and taking part of what she called “grunt and groan” exercises. Her wit and kindness will be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Fran, her parents, brothers, Joe and Paul and sister Helen (Walt) Riley.
She is survived by her children; Frank, Matt (Lilly), Holly (Pete), four grandchildren; Noella, Alex, Ethan (Monica), and Lee, sisters-in-law; Betty (Joe), Carolette (Paul), sisters; Dorothy (Ken) Warriner, Joan (Dave) Sullivan, Carolyn (Pete) Flock, Mary (Clayton) Hulleman, brothers; Noel and Ron (Peg) Hedrick, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. All were remembered at birthdays and Christmas letters.
