Obituary of Alvin Shook
Please share a memory of Alvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alvin Ross Shook, know to friends and family as “Speed”, passed away in Kingman on December 6, 2020. Alvin was 67 years old. He is a native Arizonian, born in Williams on December 31, 1953 to Clarence T. and Arletta F. Shook (Haines).
Besides living in Arizona he also lived in Minnesota and California before settling in Kingman. After graduating from high school Alvin served honorably in the US Navy. After leaving the service to his country he worked primarily as a Framer in the construction field.
He enjoyed riding his Harley. But it wasn’t his riding or driving that earned him the name of “Speed.” He got that nickname because when he was ready to be born he came to this world quickly. He was given the nickname “Speed” by his Grandfather Roland. But you should know that he did live up to his nickname name by driving/riding fast when traveling.
Alvin’s family meant the world to him. He loved hanging out with his grand and great-grandchildren. With 22 grandkids and 3 great grandkids he started the unofficial “Grandpa’s Club,” to which there were 26 members.
And when at home he enjoyed watching T.V, sitting outside in the sun & just enjoying life.
He is preceded in death by his parents Arletta and Clarence Shook and his brother Ricky Shook.
He is survived by his beloved wife Myonia; his children, Michael Jacobs, Christopher Jacobs, Jonathan Jacobs, Robin Allen, Kelly Luckstein, Crystal Shook, Myonia Jacobs, and Christina Nickelson; brother, Dave Riddlie; and sister Vicky Shook, 22 grandchildren and 3 great grandsons, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mayo Clinic Research on Alvin’s behalf.
