EVERETT VAN WINKLE
Everett Van Winkle passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 in Lake Havasu City, AZ at the age of 95. Everett was born on November 28, 1916 in Porterville, CA to Julian and Eva (Hudson) Van Winkle.
Everett graduated High School and a few years later, in 1936, Everett met a lovely young woman named Beth. After a 2 year courtship the two were married in Lynwood, CA on October 15, 1938. In May of 1943 Everett was drafted into the United States Army serving in the 280th Field Artillery Battalion. He entered as a Private and was Honorably Discharged on Christmas Day 1945 as a Master Sergeant. He served in France, Belgium and Germany and was the Recipient of the Bronze Star.
Everett then worked in the Construction Industry eventually becoming a superintendent. He was an Avid hunter and fisherman. In 2000 Everett and Beth relocated from Long Beach, CA and made Big River, CA their new home.
Everett was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years Beth in 2008 and his son Gene. He is survived by his son Kenneth Van Winkle and his wife Pam of Big River, CA; brother Ralph Van Winkle of Minden, NV; sister Maxine Pereira of Fallon, NV; grandsons James Van Winkle of Lakewood, CA and John Van Winkle of Orange, CA and 2 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 11:30 AM at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Everett's name to Bibles for America 355 Goddard Suite 100 Irvine, CA 92618.
