Robert Maurice Newton, “Bob”, 81, passed away peacefully July 27, 2020 at his home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona with family by his side. He was born August 6, 1938, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania to Maurice Newton and Madolyn Everling Newton. Bob graduated in Carbondale from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1957. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Donna Sue Bruning, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, January 31, 1959. Together they shared 61 ½ of marriage and were blessed with two children, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Bob’s family was his life and always came first. He was a fun loving, wonderful father, grandfather, and great—grandfather and always a true and loyal friend. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and working with wood and building things. He remodeled several of the homes they lived in. Bob was very talented and could build or repair almost anything. Bob had a beautiful tenor voice and sang the Lord’s Prayer at his high school graduation. He served on the Board of Deacons First Presbyterian Church, Carbondale, Pennsylvania and sang in the choir there and Presbyterian Church in Lakewood, Colorado. Bob began his career in appliance repair and management at the W.R. Wallis Company, Carbondale, Pennsylvania while still in high school. Bob served for several years in the Army National Guard in Carbondale, Pennsylvania and as a reservist for a few more years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Madolyn Newton. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Donna; daughter, Lori Newton Kurth and husband Wayne; son, Brian Robert Newton; brother, William (Bill) Newton and his wife Lee Anne; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
