Obituary of Dolores Ann Seliquini

Please share a memory of Dolores to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dolores Ann Seliquini left this earth at the age of 86 to Join her loving husband in heaven on June 23, 2020. Dolores was a devoted Catholic who was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA where she attended elementary and high school. One of her first jobs was as a cashier at Food Fair Grocery Store. Soon after she met Louis who she married in Havertown in 1952. They started their life of 65 years together in a small bungalow on Barren Road in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Dolores continued to work part time off and on but was a devoted wife and mother of 9 who focused her energy on the care of her family. Family was the most important thing to Dolores, and she raised her children with a strong sense of family. The Christmas Holiday her favorite and it was filled with decorations, caroling, family visits, food and fun, which created long lasting memories and traditions for all. She loved to cook and learned how to make her kids’ favorite home-made spaghetti and meatballs from her cherished Mother-in-Law Chesira Seliquini. She loved music and she and her husband Lou loved to dance, especially the jitterbug, and even won several contests. Dolores was extremely generous and caring. She worked hard to stretch her pennies to help provide for her large family, yet she never turned anyone in need away. One time she took in a mom and her 4 children, who were going through some difficulties for several months. She made her home their home. She frequently helped struggling families throughout the years but especially during the holidays and made sure they had food and wrapped presents to open on Christmas. In 1974 Dolores and Louis moved their large family from Newtown Square, PA. to Lake Havasu City, AZ where she continued to reside for 46 more years. Dolores enjoyed volunteerism and served as a Girl Scout Leader and as a teacher’s aide for St. Anastasia School in PA. She also volunteered at St. Anastasia Church and rectory. She continued volunteering following her move to Lake Havasu. She volunteered at Starline Elementary School in various ways and at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church as a CCD teacher, visiting home bound seniors and in areas of church maintenance; or wherever the Parish needed her. She made each of her 9 children feel special. Little did they know they were not the only one who got to stay up late with her and watch “Johnny Carson” or old black and white movies. As teenagers they all felt they could bring their friends home and sit around the kitchen table with mom to solve all the teenage problems of the world. This made them and their friends feel so significant, valued and grown up. A favorite memory of her younger kids was how, on hot spring days, Lou and the 3 youngest would come home from work and school, to find she would surprise them with a cooler full of food and cold drinks to head down to the beach! Dear Dolores Seliquini will be so greatly missed. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband; Louis P. Seliquini, her parents; Harry and Marie Beinlich, her sisters; Elizabeth, Marie, Lily and Peggy and brothers; Binky, Jackie, Tommy, Eddie and Jimmy. She is survived by her sons; John, Louis and Michael, her daughters; Louann, Annette, Nancy, Lorie, Denise and Cheryl and her 27 grandchildren and her 29 great-grandchildren.
