Obituary of John E. Stickney
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John E. Stickney (known fondly as Jack), 73, went home to the Lord on January 3, 2016 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Born to Fred and Carol Stickney on April 17, 1942 in Lockport, New York, he spent his life loving motorcycles, working in many endeavors and relocated to Havasu in 1980. He has said many times, "There's no better place to live than here!" In the course of living here, he has worked for McCulloch Corporation, Hydro Dynamics, Lake Havasu Unified School District and spent many years as "Mr. Mom" for his two youngest sons. When they were grown, he went on to become an active member of the American Legion Riders (Jackalope), welcoming home service members and paying respects. He was also a very active friend of Bill W and Jimmy K. Helping people in any way he could was Jack's true mission in life. The annual Toys for Tots Toy Run was one of his favorites. He was active with the New Hope Calvary Church participating in the live Nativity and other events. His giving spirit, quick wit, twinkling blue eyes and smile will be missed.
Jack is survived by his wife, Wendy; sons, Shane A. Stickney of Mesa, John P. Stickney of Utah, Richard A. Stickney and Charles F. (Brianna) Stickney of Lake Havasu City; grandsons, Shane A Stickney, Jr., Patrick Stickney, Timothy Stickney, and John David Stickney. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, his loving sidekick, "Creamsicle" (his cat), and many wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, LaVonne Stickney Rose.
Services will be held at St. Michael's United Methodist Church (2895 Jamaica Boulevard South) at 12 noon on Monday, January 18th followed by a lunch in the Fellowship Hall.
Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory. Thoughts and condolences may be sent to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.
