I had Mr. Klein as a history/social studies teacher and a Driver's Ed teacher in 1994-95 @ Ellicott High School. I often think of him when I see a Nissan Z driving around. He loved that car back in the 90s! Every time I have to parallel park, I think of when he had me practice parallel parking between 2 Police cars while they were standing outside taking a break. He thought it was so fun and I was absolutely terrified! Thankfully I passed! Whenever I drive on a freeway off-ramp, I remember how I scared him enough by driving too fast into a turn that he used the instructor brake to keep us from crashing. It was never fun being chewed out by him, but man when you made him proud...you could his whole face would light up! It sounds so cliche when I hear people talk about a teacher that made a difference in someone's life, but Mr. Klein definitely did that for me! School was the only place where I felt safe and where I could be the true me, and I attribute all that to teachers like Mr. Klein. He definitely left his mark on so many of us. I pray that his family finds peace during this somber time. Thank you for sharing him with us. He will be missed.
