Lewis Ashton Crosby
"Lew" was born in Beverly, Massachusetts on June 7, 1907 to Leonora and Arthur Crosby..He grew up in upstate New York and graduated from Amenia High School on June 24, 1924. With his brother Herbert he drove to California in a " reconstructed" Essex sedan in 1926. After returning to Massachusetts Lewis pursued one of his interests , radio. This quickly led to work in this field and in 1938 he started his own business, Electrical Supply Corporation.
Lewis had another ongoing fascination, flying. In 1930 he built a Heath Parasol light plane from a kit. Lewis never flew this plan but 30+years later he took to the air in the first of two planes that he owned and fly.
He retired in 1970 and moved his family to the home he lived in for the next 42 years. After settling his family in Lake Havasu he returned east alone, flying his Cessna across country accompanied by his son Robert.
Lew was active in starting the local Good Sam Club, working on the building committee of Lake Havasu Baptist Church, was a 25 year member of Golden K Kiwanis, and enjoyed every day of his life in this desert oasis and was proud to be known as the oldest resident in Lake Havasu City.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Crosby and his sons, Robert & Phillip Crosby, granddaughters Kimberly (Michael) Robinson. Kerri (Jon) Straus, grandsons Lance & Shawn Crosby, granddaughter Shayla Crosby and grandson Tristan Crosby, Brandyn & Bret Robinson, Jacob, Toby and Jordan Strauss.
