Obituary of Dorothy S Helmer

Dorothy (Dot) Helmer           

Dorothy (Dot) Helmer passed away on Sunday August 18, 2019 to join God, John, Joanne and Kim.  She passed with the same grace and peace she wove into her daily life.

Dot is survived by her brother Clayton Loyd (Sharon), son Keith Helmer (Laurie), son in law Kevin Brown, grandson’s Jonathan Latham (Carey), AJ Latham (Natalie), granddaughter’s Jodi Helmer and Leanna Helmer, great grandson’s Malcolm, Rhett and Dallin Latham and Jeramie Millett.

Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, John K. Helmer, daughter’s Joanne Helmer and Kim Brown.   All of whom we miss daily however are thankful that they will welcome Dot home.  In due time,   we look forward to our reunion with them.

Dot leaves a number of life-long friends that will attest to her love of Mohave County, Kingman specifically.  Cooking, entertaining, walking, hiking or riding her bicycle;   she loved it all.  Full moons in our desert sky always captured Dot. When you see one, think happy thoughts, as you know she always did

Moving to Kingman in 1959, John and Dot raised and loved their kids,. They worked hard for our community. Dot worked for the City of Kingman for 28 years, many as the City Clerk.  John retired from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, badge number 084.  Dot was a proud and loyal founding member of the Kingman Presbyterian Church, watching the walls go up in 1962.

The family will be gathering for a private memorial and celebration of Dot’s life.  Her smile and understanding always led to “she’s so darn cute” from those who knew and loved her.  She gave us much, we are blessed.   Thank you for your prayers and condolences, God Bless.
