Obituary of Richard "Dick" Sloan
Richard "Dick" Sloan was called home to be with the Lord on 06/28/2019.
Dick was born July 21, 1929 to Kenneth and Ethel (Carter) Sloan in Los Angeles where he attended Manual Arts High School until he enlisted in the 103rd Navy Seabees at the age of 17. He was stationed at Port Hueneme, California and on the island of Guam where he operated heavy equipment. Dick married Barbara Jean Logan on July 15, 1950, and they had 3 children. Dick enjoyed a variety of activities including, racing boats, owning horses, camping, cards and raising his family.
Dick and Jeanne moved to Lake Havasu in June 1990 after he retired from Southern California Rapid Transit District as a mechanic supervisor for the Los Angeles bus system after 26 years of employment.
He faithfully attended Calvary Baptist Church since 1992, always involved in building, maintenance, and a various activities.
After Jeanne's death in 2009, the Lord brought Dick and Vi Henderson together and they married on June 30, 2012. Dick and Vi lived a very happy and quiet life enjoying each other's company, attending church, eating out, and card nights with friends and family.
Dick is survived by his wife Vi; son, Rod (Linda), grandson Ryan (Heather), great grandson Nolan, daughter Lori Sloan, all of Lake Havasu; daughter Linda (Bruce) Dicke of Montana and grandson Ken Sloan of Oregon.
Dick will be greatly missed by all who knew him and per his wishes no services will be held.
