Celebrating the Life and Love of Our Beloved
Ira Edna Houston Smith
Ira Smith received her wings on Thursday, June 6, 2019.

Ira was born to Walter and Martha Houston on February 6, 1952 in Byhalia, Mississippi. She was born to God fearing parents, thereby accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized at a young age. She was a faithful and active member of 1st Southern Baptist Church of Lake Havasu City, AZ, led by Pastor Luis Hernandez. Ira retired her post as Church administrator after 20 years and was a member of the praise team and various other committees.
Prior to relocating to Lake Havasu City, Ira was a longstanding member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church of Santa Ana, California, led by Reverend Richard Kessee, Jr.
Ira leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted husband of forty-seven years, Reverend Leroy Smith; her daughter, Sonya (Eric) Smith-Grigsby of Houston, TX; two grandsons, Archie Aubrey and Aaron Aubrey; and five great-grandchildren, Trevion, Madison, Troy, Alyssa and Ayden. Ira's supportive nature will be missed by her five sisters, Doris (Cozey) Johnson of Corona, CA, Ruth (Calvin) Mason of Memphis, TN, Beauty (Arthur) Waddell of Las Vegas, NV, Martha Jean (Reverend Payton) Lee of Byhalia, MS, and Barbara Payton of Memphis, TN. Ira will be remembered by her three brothers, Sylvester (Ruby) Houston of Santa Ana, CA, Reverend John Houston and Tony Houston, both of Memphis, TN. Ira had infinite love for her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
Ira was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Martha Houston; two brothers, Walter Houston, Jr. and Ronald Benson; as well as her sister, Alfreda "Judy" Malone.

There will never be a day when she's not thought of.
