Dear Bergman family, I am very sorry to have read of the recent death of your beloved John. Please accept my sincere condolences. I would like to share something that I have personally found to be very comforting. God’s Word, the Bible, compares death to being asleep (see 1 Thesalonians 4:14). Jesus Christ himself said “The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life” (John 11:25). These words have given me hope and I felt the need to share them with you. I’ve found very practical information in the brochure When Someone You Love Dies that you can download from jw.org
