Gwen Obituary
Gwen Adams, 93, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in Lake Havasu City. She was born November 2, 1925, in Mason City, Illinois. Gwen grew up in Mason City, and later went to nursing school Peoria during WWII.
In 1946, she went west to Paradise, California where she met her husband, Bill Adams. They eloped to Sparks, Nevada on July 15, 1948, accompanied by Bill’s sister, Barbara, and her husband, Ted. They then moved to South Gate in southern California.
Gwen worked as an RN in Downey, California until 1972. After 23 years, they relocated to Fullerton. Then a few years later, moved to Lake Arrowhead. After a move to Apple Valley, they decided to make Lake Havasu their permanent home, where they had been vacationing since 1961.
Gwen enjoyed traveling with their motorhome., boating, and visiting their daughter in Switzerland. She also traveled every May back to Mason City for class reunions.
Gwen is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Bill Adams, parents; John and Cora Reynolds, brothers; Hobert, John, and Bill, and sister; Margret.
Gwen is survived by her three children, Christine Collins, of Garland, Texas, Steven Adams, of Lake Havasu City, and Cindy Stump, of Switzerland, as well as grandchildren, Jimi Brown, of Mesa, Arizona, Lindsey Smith, of Gilbert, Arizona, Ryan Collins, of Garland, Texas, Vivien, Billie-Jo, and Cody Stump, of Switzerland; great grandchildren, Sammy, Kaillen, Maddison, Hailey, Presly, and Kennedy; great-great grandchildren, Natalie and Hailey.
Gwen spent the last year and a half at Prestige Assisted Living where she enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with other residents. In her last few days, she was surrounded by her 2 daughters, good friends, and caring people from Prestige.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 2:00 pm. The family requests that no dark clothing be worn as this is a Celebration of Gwen’s Life.
