Frank Emmett (Papa) Diskin

August 16th, 1932- December 24th, 2018

 

Frank (Papa) Diskin, 86, passed away peacefully in his home the morning of Christmas Eve surrounded by his family.

 

Frank was born on August 16th, 1932 to Irish immigrant parents John and Beatrice Diskin in San Francisco, California. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John Jr. and William (Bill) Diskin.

 

Frank is survived by: his wife of 66 years Beverly Ann Diskin, his six children Jane & Monty Pritchett, Deborah and Bryant Wood, Dennis & Cheryl Diskin, Frank Diskin & Cammy DeHart, Tim & Lindley Diskin, and Diane & Brian Mapes; his 13 grandchildren Tim Randall, Lee Diskin, Lauren Farshler, Casey Diskin, Shaun Wood, Sabel Diskin, Gavin Diskin, Nick Wood, Chelsea Wood, Ariel Darnell, Jordan Mapes, Kirstin Mapes and Zachary Diskin; and his 10 great-grandchildren Katie Samano, Tyler Samano, Reese Farshler, Holden Diskin, Bryn Farshler, Isabella Diskin-West, Rowan Diskin, Grace West, Emily West and Beckett Diskin.

 

Born in San Francisco, the Diskin family moved to Los Angeles where Frank attended Cathedral High School. After highschool, Frank joined the Air Force where he worked on the Matador (a guided missile program) in Florida.

 

Frank met his wife of 66 years as a sophomore in highschool and they married on his 20th birthday in 1952. By the time Frank left the Air Force and joined Pacific Telephone Company in Southern California, they had six children raised in Buena Park and Cypress California.

 

After 35 years in the phone company, Frank retired and bought Adlee Covers Boats boat canvas company in Corona, California with his wife and eldest daughter, Jane. In 1992, Frank and Beverly built their home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona where Frank spent his remaining years pursuing his hobbies of boating, building model airplanes and entertaining the many grandchildren who stopped by to visit.

 

Frank could often be found out on the lake early in the mornings, taking his children out water skiing in his younger years and flying his many model airplanes in his later years. He enjoyed a good float in his backyard pool and a nice lunch at the local Taco Bell. He will be missed by all his family and friends who have been lucky enough to know him.

 

Frank has requested to be cremated and a memorial service will be held on January 5th, at 10am at the Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.In Lieu of flowers, Donations to be made to Hospice of Havasu.
