Obituary of Gwendolyn Ann Steinbach
Gwendolyn Ann Steinbach (Gwennie) 78 of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away on November 5, 2018.
Gwen was born in Torrance, California to Melvin and Gladys Smith on November 8, 1939, and grew up in Lomita, CA. She met her high school sweetheart, Tom whom she was married to for 59 years. She graduated from Narbonne High School in Lomita, CA in 1957, and went to Los Angeles Harbor College for secretarial courses. Gwen worked for Los Angeles City Schools in the testing program grading tests, Aeropsace Corporation, Ann Francis Fabrics, Bullock’s Wilshire, and Northrop Grumman as an administrative assistant until she retired in 1995, moving from Rancho Palos Verdes, CA to Lake Havasu City, AZ.
Gwen’s talents and interests were china painting, watercolor painting, horse riding, boating, water skiing, traveling, cruising, and off-roading. Gwen was in the handbell choir at St Luke’s Presbyterian Church in Rolling Hills, CA, and also at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Gwen loved spending time with her family and friends.
Gwen was in Job’s Daughters, and also Theta Chi Omega Sorority in 1959. After retiring to Lake Havasu City, she became an active member of Western Welcome Club, serving as Crafts Co-Chairman, a member of Havasu 4 Wheelers, and a member of Havasu Art Guild.
Gwen is survived by her loving husband, Tom of 59 years, daughter Holly Panno (Dan) of Lake Havasu City, AZ; daughter Kelly Davies (Jim) of Anaheim Hills, CA, and their two daughters, Caitlyn (23) and Brenna (21); Gwen’s brother George Smith (Carol) of Lake Havasu City, AZ, and their two daughters, Shelley Kasper and Julie Fasani, both of Harbor City, CA.
Gwen is preceded in death by her mother and father, Gladys and Melvin Smith, and her sister, Pamela (aged 6 weeks).
Gwennie was beloved by all who knew her, and will be greatly missed.
Celebration of Life will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10:00AM, with Pastor Craig Corbin officiating. 2170 Havasupai Blvd, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403. Inurnment will immediately follow at Mount Olive Columbarium.
