Obituary of Dean McCorkle

Dean Emerson McCorkle Jr passed away at his residence on December 22, 2012 at the age of 67. Dean was born on July 31, 1945 in McKeesport, PA to Dean and Stella (Venora) McCorkle.
Upon completing high school, Dean enlisted in the United States Navy on November 29, 1964. Dean very proudly served as a Corpsman and saw extensive duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from active duty on November 20, 1966 and served an additional two years in the Navy Reserve. Upon completion of his military service, Dean returned to Pennsylvania. He enrolled in Point Park College in Pittsburgh, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelors Degree in business. He worked for several trucking companies in Pennsylvania before moving to Southern California where he worked as a Tanker driver for Matlack Tank Lines. Dean moved to Lake Havasu City 23 years ago and went to work for ABF Freight System for 18 years until his retirement in 2007.
Dean was a very passionate supporter and a member of the National Rifle Assn., The Teamsters Union and Teamsters for a Democratic Union. Dean also loved to have long conversations and build Hot Rods and was a member of the National Hot Rod Assn. and National Street Rod Assn.
Dean is survived by his brothers Bruce McCorkle of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Duane McCorkle of Pennsylvania and Jay McCorkle and his wife Stephanie of Lake Havasu City, niece Hailee McCorkle and Nephews Collin McCorkle and Dustin McCorkle. Dean was preceded in death by his parents Dean and Stella and his sister in law Helen McCorkle.
A private services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
