Obituary of "Opus" Ayers
Opus Ayers died peacefully, alongside his mom of nine years on Monday, April 16, 2018 under the care of Novak Veterinary Physician, Dr. Innocenti and staff.
Opus was adopted by his mom, Franni and his dad, Jim, from the Irvine California Animal Shelter. Opus had been adopted and abandoned two times before his Mom and Dad adopted him. Having been ill with mange and kennel cough, Opus, mom, and dad had to go back and forth to the shelter various times to visit him until he was well enough to be adopted. Opus had respiratory issues his entire life.
Opus quickly became the dog legends are made from while his mom and dad worked. Opus was an escape artist who escaped from his crate daily. He defied injury picking only wires to chew that would not electrocute him. Opus was filled with fear, but his mom diligently worked on earning Opus’ trust. Opus’ mom left work several times throughout the day to check on him, walking him, and petting him. It took a village.
Opus was what his mom and dad referred to as “the cutest dog in the world.” He became affectionate, loving, and trusting. He loved his toys, especially his pet monkey. Opus traveled with his mom, dad, and brothers; Monroe and Dylan, across the entire USA on four occasions. Everyone who met Opus loved his gentle, peaceful nature, not a common Chihuahua trait, but Opus was special.
The fastest way to opus’ heart was a belly rub from momma. Squirming on the floor with his little legs swimming, Opus was such a little clown. Family and neighbors would visit just to hold and pet Opus.
Opus will be greatly missed by many, but none more so than his mom. Through thick and thin, she loved him with all of her heart, and though the pain she feels without him is great, it in no way would compare to the pain of never having had him in her life.
Opus has joined his brothers; Starbucks and Dylan over the Rainbow Bridge. Besides his momma and dad, Opus leaves behind his brother Monroe and family in NJ and California.
At the wishes of Opus’ family, adopt a dog and give your dog an extra hug, belly rub, and treat.
Services were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
