Obituary of Robert Blaine Messervy
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert (Bob) Blaine Messervy was born on April 23, 1953 to Robert and Sherrie (Henderson) Mortenson and passed away on April 10, 2018 shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. He was known to his Colorado friends and family as Blaine and to his Arizona friends and family as Bob. His last name was changed on June 1, 1966 when he and his twin brother Blair were adopted by their stepfather. Bob graduated from Northglenn High School in 1971 and went to work for the City of Northglenn as a meter reader shortly thereafter. Bob and his first wife Connie later moved to the Tampa, Florida area with their two children, Carrie and Michael. After their divorce, he moved back to the Longmont, Colorado area, where he lived until 1988 when he moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona to get away from the snow and ice in Colorado. Bob was the first to hold the title of Public Works Inspector for Lake Havasu, a position he held under various titles until his retirement in September, 2012. On March 27, 1993, he married Linda Anderson and they had an amazingly wonderful 25 years together. It wasn't always perfect, but it was perfect for them. Out of that marriage, Bob gained another son, Kenneth C. Anderson, II.In 1997, Bob and Linda welcomed their grandson, Kenneth C. Anderson, III. Bob was a lifelong fan of the Denver Broncos, and very few things kept him from watching every single game that was televised. His dream was to attend a game at Mile High Stadium. Thanks to his family, he accumulated many, many Broncos hats; and he was rarely seen without one. He loved to bowl, and he and Linda were members of the London Bridge Mixers league for over 15 years. When his grandson became involved in productions at Grace Arts Live, Linda volunteered to help; and Bob came along for the ride, carting supplies and costumes to and from the theater. He also had many friends and acquaintances at the Desert Martini, and his presence there will be missed. Bob touched many lives in both small and large ways; and he is missed by family, friends, and his and Linda's family of friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Anderson) Messervy; daughter Carrie Messervy; sons Michael Messervy and Kenneth Anderson; II; "adopted" son JR (Jennifer) Arnold; grandsons Kenneth C. Anderson, III (20), Jacob Arnold (9) and Landon Messervy (8); granddaughter Izzy Messervy (4); great-grandson Maxton (1); brothers Blair (Juanece) Messervy and Brad Messervy; sister Brenda (Messervy) Westra; sister-in-law Beverly (Craig) Martens; and many other family members.
