Obituary of Audrey Mae Somers

Audrey was born and raised in Rock Island, Quebec, Canada, which is located on the Vermont border. She was the last and eighth child of Agnus and Lottie Barlow. She graduated from Bugbee Business College in Stanstead, Quebec. During her school years, she was successful in both academics and athletics, excelling in track. She spent most of her working career in administration in the health care business, retiring from CIGNA Healthcare as an Administrative Supervisor. She also spent several years as a legal secretary. Outside of work, she was a very creative person with arts and crafts as her main passion; it seemed like she was successful in almost everything—painting, macramé, pottery, and interior decoration. In 1961, she met Bernie Somers from the neighboring city of Newport, Vermont. They hit it off immediately, and had been together for almost 57 years at the time of her passing. Bernie and Audrey were married in 1963, and together raised two children –Bob of Easley, South Caroline, and Lindy (Hardin) of Stanley, North Carolina. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, her six brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bernie, son Bob, and daughter Linda, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved travelling in our RV, especially with the London Bridge RV Club. She also greatly enjoyed many activities and friends in the Lake Havasu Yacht Club. She had many lasting friendships in the Phoenix area, Philadelphia, and Lake Havasu. Bernie and Audrey had lived in Connecticut, Philadelphia, and the Phoenix area prior to moving to Lake Havasu, AZ in 2000. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
