So very sorry to hear this sad news. Dean and Joyce were good friends and dating partners to John Mead and I back in 1967-68 before they moved to Havasu from Phoenix. My thoughts and condolences to Joyce and family.

I am still in shock, it just does not seem possible that Dean has passed so suddenly, we had just spoken extensively a few days earlier. He had not only been my partner at Havasu Barber Shop for 26 years; he was also my nearest and dearest friend for over 50+ years. Words cannot begin to express how deeply he will be missed. Dean was truly an extraordinary person.
My wife Monecia and I send our deepest heartfelt condolences to everyone in the family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Craig

I was completely shocked when I saw the story regarding Dean. It seems I just saw him in the store a month ago or so and he was the same Dean I had known for the last 43 or more years. I don't have the words to tell you the sorrow
in my heart that I have for your family. Dean never had a bad word to say about anyone, he was truly a man's man. RIP Dean, you deserve it.

Joyce and Kids,
So sorry to read of Dean's passing. A true Havasu pioneer. We were neighbors when we first moved to town and our boys played together. Dean cut my hair for years, but when the shop got too busy, he 'fired" me so I would not have to sit in the waiting room to long and sent me to a shop that took appointments, only because he valued my time. Enjoyed his sense of humor and his sense of honor.
If I or Horizon Community Bank may be of support in any way, please let me know.
Our deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers are with you.
Jerry Ernst

It is obvious from the many kind expressions that Mr. Retterer will be missed by all who knew him. May you find comfort in knowing the grief and sorrow we experience is temporary. God’s word is clear, “He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces”. (Isaiah 25:8; Revelation 21:4)
Further, Jesus spoke of the coming resurrection (John 5:21, 28, 29), performed resurrections & was himself resurrected by his Father. All such miraculous events took place on earth, giving us a glimpse of what is to come! (Acts 24:15)
As we await the fulfillment of his promises, may Jehovah God continue to bless & comfort your family & all who knew Mr. Retterer in the days ahead.....

I met Dean after someone mentioned the barber shop on Smoketree with all the beer cans. As a fellow collector, we shared cans and stories and whenever I went in for a haircut, or just to drop off some new cans I got, Dean would always stop what he was doing to say hello. I think he knew every customer by name. We also talked old cars and Lionel trains during my time in "The Chair" and I missed seeing him after he retired.
He was a true gentleman and I was so sorry to see his obit in the paper. May he rest in peace.

Although it has been many years since I had seen my cousin Dean and his family, I will always remember the fun days when we visited family in Ohio where Dean grew up. We really enjoyed riding around in his go-cart! He was a great cousin and I know his family will miss him greatly. Please know how sorry I am to hear of his passing.

Condolences, I knew Dean many years ago, about 30 something years. He was the first barber when I came to town in 1979.

To Deans family. My heart is with you all during this time of sorrow. Dean was such an amazing man and was always so good to my son whenever we would go to get his hair cut (my son started going to him when he was 5 and hes 16 now). Dean was the ONLY one he'd let touch his hair, even though I was a licensed cosmetologist. Dean always made him feel like such a grown up kid, sitting in his chair. I even have pictures of him with the shaving cream on his cheeks that Dean did to make him feel like a "man getting a shave" and not a little kid. Dean will always hold a special place in our hearts forever. Rest easy Dean and God bless!
