Obituary of Miriam Jean Jones
Miriam "Jean" Jones passed away on January 26, 2018 peacefully at home. Born February 21, 1929 to Susan E (Reber) Meek and James Curtis Meek in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Growing up she graduated from Mount Penn High School and worked at her father's restaurant Brown's Diner in West Reading, PA where she met and then married Charlie Jones in 1952.
She worked as a school bus driver until moving with her family to Lake Havasu in 1972.
She opened and operated Knit Pickers Menswear store and was partners in the Clothes Closet. She worked as a night auditor for the original Ramada Inn, worked for Three Buoys Houseboats as a bookkeeper then later for (Mega Foods) Food City as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 2001.
Jean loved the outdoors, gardening (some said she had a green thumb) never giving up on any plant. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, painting, and reupholstering whatever she could. Christmas was her favorite holiday and boy could she decorate. Jean was a very loving, caring, and the best mom. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Later in life she learned to appreciate fine Tequila.
Jean is survived by her children, Sherri Jones, Lori (Corky) Friesz, JC (Sarah) Jones; grandchildren JR (Alyssa) Jones, Kurtis Jones, Ryan Jones, Bill (Kristen) Friesz, Katie (Antoine) Damron, Michael Friesz; three great-grandchildren, Ryder and Wyatt Damron and Madeline Friesz.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Charlie and her parents.
At her request there will be no service. The family will have their own at an upcoming date. We would like to thank Shirley and the Hospice of Havasu staff and Cathy with Comfort Keepers for all your love and support you gave mom and our family.
In lieu of flowers you may make a donation for breast cancer and dementia research.
In memory of Jean please have a shot of fine Tequila, she would love that.
