Obituary of Rodney D Young

Rodney D. Young, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away on February 15, 2018, at the age of 88. Rod was born in Manheim, Pennsylvania on December 6, 1929 to Leo and Mae Young. He earned his Associates Degree and Real Estate License. Rod enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and became Master Sargent for 20 years before he became a supervisor of the United States Bureau of Reclamation for another 20 years. He retired at 37 and moved to Placerville, California, then to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1978, followed by Parker Dam, California, and finally to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Rob married his loving wife, Ellen D. Posten, in Lake Havasu City on November 26, 1992. He enjoyed people, spending time at the Senior Center, fishing, sudoku puzzles, and square dancing. He was also an artist and a magician. Rod was a Lifetime Member of the V.F.W. and the National Rifle Association. He was a member of Lake Havasu Baptist Church, which he attended faithfully with Ellen. Rod was also a member of the Lake Havasu Senior Center, where he loved leading the Pledge of Allegiance with his booming voice. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mao Young. Rod is survived by his wife, Ellen Dolores Young; brothers, Larry and Sydney Young; sisters, Patsy Harsh and Betsy Vafias; son, Rodney Young; daughter, Robyn Pectol; two grandchildren, Devin and Kayla; three step sons, Kevin, Robert, and Doug Posten and one step grandchild, Maria Posten. A visitation will be held at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. with a service at 1:00 p.m. at Lake Havasu Baptist Church, located at 2101 Palo Verde Blvd N, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86404, and a reception to follow.
