Obituary of Ruby B Sparkman
Please share a memory of Ruby to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruby Sparkman, 69, went home to Jesus on February 3, 2018. Her greatest comfort was her assurance that she would join her beloved husband, Carl Sparkman, in the presence of the Lord.
Ruby was a beautiful woman with a gentle and loving soul. She was a talented bead artist and quilling artist. She had been an accomplished horse rider who rode competitively. Ruby had a wide range of friends who loved her deeply and she truly treasured each one. We are so grateful to all of her friends who showed her respect, compassion, and love throughout her life and life's challenges. Ruby was a two-time cancer survivor and a devoted caregiver to her husband, Carl.
Ruby loved to be out on the road with the wind in her hair and Carl, her beloved husband whom she absolutely cherished, by her side.
She was the founder and president of the Desert Divas, LHC chapter of the Women in the Wind motorcycle club. Ruby was also a proud member of the Iron Butt Association. On April 22, 2006, she rode a 1999 Harley Fat Boy a total of 1,070 grueling, documented miles in less than 24 hours starting in Lake Havasu City, AZ and continuing on to Flagstaff, AZ, Gallup, NM, and Albuquerque, NM before returning to LHC while participating in the SaddleSore 1000.
Ruby was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Carl; parents Leo and Mary Emma Love, and sister, Sharon Chavolla.
Ruby is survived by her daughter Susan Sanborn, brother-in-law David (Bob) Winston, and sister Mary Runice.
A Celebration of Ruby's Life will be on Saturday, February 24th, at the London Bridge Beach near the dog park, 2-4 pm.
Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Thoughts and condolences can be made to the Sparkman family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com. To send a free card to the family, go to www.sendoutcards.com/lietzfraze.
