Obituary of Rex Sexton Eckert
Rex S. Eckert, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018, at the age of 99, just shy of his 100th birthday.
Rex was born on May 1, 1918, in Council Grove, Kansas, the son of William and Edith Eckert. He married the love of his life, Frances Nichols, on August 28, 1937, in Platte City, Missouri and spent 70 amazing years by her side. Rex, Frances, and their two children soon moved to San Diego, California where he went to Barber School. While Barbering in South San Diego, he served in the reserve police department for many years. In 1967, Rex and Frances flew from San Diego to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, on one of Mr. McCulloch's first flights and relocated to Havasu 12 years later.
Rex loved to sing and would entertain for fun. All the employees at Lake Hills Inn Nursing Home called him "Grandpa", which he adored. Rex was a joyful man and was loved by everyone. Rex was a Godly man his whole life and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior.
Rex was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Eckert; parents, William and Edith Eckert; children, Roger and Penny Eckert; and brothers, Omar and Kenneth Eckert.
Rex is survived by his daughter-in-law, Margie Eckert; granddaughters, Jodie Snider and Jackie Rowley; great-grandchildren, Jason, Stefanie, Drew, Cassi, Tyler, Jacob, and Tori; and great-great-grandchildren, Trevor, Bryce, Chance, Tatum, Stella, Ava, Chloe, and John.
A graveside service will take place at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 3pm. Everyone is welcome!
