Obituary of Estelle Charlotte Rothen

Estelle “Estee” Rothen, 100 years of age, passed away peacefully and gracefully on Monday, January 22, 2018. at the Polidori House with friends at her side. 

Estee grew up in West Allis, Wisconsin, where she retired in 1983 and then moved to Lake Havasu City.  She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, the oldest member of the VFW Ladies Auxilliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and her favorite, the Drinking and Carousing Group of the Ladies VFW.  She went to monthly dinners with her group at Beckett House and monthly lunches with the Drinking and Carousing Group. 

She had her 100^th birthday party with over 100 guests for her birthday and she dressed to the hilt.  On her 100^th birthday she was extremely excited because she was able to meet the Bishop of her church on that day.  What a special day that was for her! Estee never had an unkind word to say about anyone.  She lived at the Becket House for nearly 30 years and was the oldest resident.  Her friends at Beckett House will miss her and her little red car which she drove until she was 99 ½ years old with NO power steering.    She enjoyed baking her famous lemon pies, golfing in her younger years and spending time with her family and friends.  Even in her 90’s she looked forward to going out on Friday nights.

Her son Joe preceded her in death in 2006. 

She is survived by her only remaining sibling; Anita Morris, and one stepdaughter, Mary Ann Paulus. 

She is also survived by her grandchildren; Paul Paulus, Peggie Sunseri, Cristie (Donny) Kirkland, and Anne Marie Paulus-Nadeem; seven great-grandchildren, Adam (Johanna) Kinser, Shana Sunseri, Joseph Sunseri, Martina Kirkland, Yesha Nadeem, Abraham Nadeem, and Mohamed Nadeem. 

The family wishes to thank our dear family friends, Sharon & Mike Bradley, for being longtime friends and caregiver for our grandmother/great-grandmother.  She was certainly loved by many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her!

Services will be held on February 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Lietz-Fraze funeral home, followed by a reception from 2-5pm at the Beckett House Community Center, 865 Cashmere Drive, Lake Havasu City. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Polidori House in Estee’s name.
