Obituary of Emmett Joseph Engel

Emmett Joseph Engel, age 73, passed away at Havasu Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018. For the past year he courageously battled a deteriorating state of: Bell's palsy, renal disease, pseudo tumors, and coronary artery disease. He passed due to complications from a heart attack.

Emmett was born on August 5th, 1944, in Galena, Illinois, the second son of Edward and Emma Engel. He was raised in Hanover, graduating Hanover High School in 1962.

Emmett served in the US Army from August of 1965 to August of 1971. His chosen career was with Illinois State Department of Transportation, where he was Field Maintenance Engineer until retirement.

His choice of recreational enjoyment circled around good company, auction sales, great food, and tinkering in the ever growing junk yard.

Emmett was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Emma Engel and brother, Ellis Engel.

Emmett's spirit lives on through his children, Eric and Erin (Chet); grandchildren, Emma and Kori; brother, Eugene (Marilyn); nephew, Ryan (Tabitha) and great nephew and niece, Henry/ Emily, as well as numerous friends, family members, and devoted auction goers.

Memorial service to be held on Saturday, March 24th 2018 from 11am to 2pm at Law Jones Funeral Home, 309 Chicago Ave, Savanna, IL 61074. If Emmett touched your life, please come, we would love to see you.
