Obituary of Gary B Cochran
Gary, Mr. "C" Cochran, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at the age of 79, surrounded by his family.
He was born April 8, 1938 in Long Beach, California, the son of Valmer and Marjorie Cochran. After he graduated from High School, Gary enlisted in the United States Air Force. After serving in the Air Force, Gary had a love for racing. He went on to build a race car with some close friends in Fountain Valley, California. He raced cars professionally for over 20 years. Gary and Marie were married in May of 1959, lived in Fountain Valley until 1978, raising two daughters, and then they moved to Corona, California until he retired. During that time between racing, he also worked as a superintendent for construction. In 2000 Gary retired and moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where he became active with the Lake Havasu Yacht Club, Eagles, and Elks club. Gary left his legacy, showing his love for racing, with a couple of his race cars on a mural off McCulloch Blvd in Lake Havasu City. He loved golfing, boating, politics, and spending time with family and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Valorie Gardner.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Marie; daughters, Dawn and Teri; son in laws, George and Mike; six grandchildren, Chris, Brent, Tyler, Brittany, Reed, and Jenna; one great-grandchild, Isabella.
Gary was a wonderful husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and the racing community.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Lake Havasu Yacht Club on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 11am.
