Michael "Mike" A. Goldenbee was born April 24, 1944, in Los Angeles, California. Mike went to elementary school in Crestline, California and then junior high and high school in San Bernardino, California. He started working for the U.S. Forest Service part-time for a couple of years, while working as a Deputy Sherriff part-time in Crestline, California. He then became a full-time employee of the U.S. Forest Service on the Big Bear Ranger District where he met his wife Judy. In 1967, he was drafted into the Army, where he served his country honorably. His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him a Purple Heart in the TET Offensive 1968, as a helicopter Crew Chief. Upon his discharge from the Army, he returned to the U.S. Forest Service, where he worked on the San Bernardino National Forest, including Big Bear Lake, Lake Arrowhead, Cajon, and Mill Creek districts for 38 years, during which time he became a Federal Law Enforcement Officer for the last 10 years. He then retired and moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where he started working at Lake Havasu Marina for 8 years. Mike enjoyed working with wood, making cabinets and furniture. He also loved to come to the river with family and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas F. Goldenbee and Mable Goldenbee-Stevenson and his brother, Tom Goldenbee. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Judy Goldenbee; daughter, Tami (Ron) Terry, of San Bernardino, California; son, Brian Goldenbee, of Hesperia, California; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Roberta Goldenbee, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Goldenbee residence on February 24, 2018 from 2:00pm-5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, Arizona 86405, or a charity of your choice. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
