Obituary of Larry Klumpp
Please share a memory of Larry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Larry Klumpp was born on July 23, 1944 in Saline Michigan to John and Esther Klumpp. He attended Saline High and enlisted in the Navy upon graduation in 1962.
He attended Eastern Michigan University and earned his MBA in 1971. He married Diane Dickinson on June 17, 1967. Upon graduation, he began his career at Ford. In 1973, he joined J.I. Case and quickly rose through the ranks. He also served as VP for EIMCO, and President of Baker Mine Service. He then became the CEO of Pettibone and lead that rapidly expanding company from 1987-1996. After serving as a Professor of Business at Montana State University, he returned to the corporate world as CEO of Dynisco in Franklin, Mass until 2008. He was a Board member of Madison Capital Partners until his death.
Larry is lovingly described as a force of nature. Whether he was running a company or coaching his son's basketball team, his passion for life was contagious. He was an extraordinary leader and mentor, and more than 30 of his former employees are either CEOs or are running their own businesses. Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman, and went on numerous safaris in Africa as well as other places around the world. His favorite saying was "If there is lead in the air, there's hope!"
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, his brother John, and his niece Jill. He is survived by his wife Diane, his children Matthew Klumpp and Kelly (Klumpp) Mershon, his son-in-law Lt. Col Kenneth Mershon, and his granddaughters Morgan and Erin.
