To the Family, ,
I did not know Mr. Holmes however, I too have experienced the loss of a loved one. It is times like this that reminders of God's promises regarding death and the resurrection serve to provide hope and a measure of peace. (Jeremiah 29:11)
I find it comforting to know that death was not God’s purpose for mankind and his purpose has not changed. God’s word says 'death is an enemy' and promises it will be 'brought to nothing'. (1Corinthians 15:26) Psalm 34:18 says, "Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit." Further, God guarantees us that the grief and sorrow we experience is temporary. (Revelation 21:4). So, because of God’s love for us, He does care about our pain and grief so much so that he guarantees the restoration of life.
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life...” ( John 11:25) As you know, Jesus not only spoke of the coming resurrection (John 5:21, 28, 29), he himself was resurrected by his Father and performed many miracles including resurrections. So, all resurrections took place here on earth giving us assurance of what is to come.
Because God is a promise keeper (Titus 1:2), we will have the prospect of seeing our loved ones again! (Acts 24:15) These truths not only provide hope for the future but serve to comfort us even now.
As you cherish the many fond memories of Mr. Holmes, may Jehovah God continue to bless your family in the days to come.........
