Obituary of Ellen Blanche Chapman

Ellen Blanch Chapman, age 92 years peacefully passed away early Friday morning on October 6th, 2017 at Prestige Assisted Living in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Ellen was born in Alexandria, South Dakota on June 21st, 1925 to Joseph and Blanch Gust. When Ellen was a young girl the family left the farm and relocated to Vashon Island, Washington. Ellen competed her schooling at Vashon Island High School and graduated in 1943. Shortly after high school Ellen began working for The Seattle Port of Embarkation when she met Larry Chapman who was serving in the United States Army. They quickly fell in love, married and moved to Los Angeles, California. In 1947 she was blessed with her one and only son Steve. During this time, she completed her AA degree at Fullerton Junior College focusing on finance and business. Ellen worked for Wells Fargo Bank as a branch manager at various locations for many years and eventually retiring. Staring in the 1960's Ellen took on different roles in the development of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Ellen and Larry bought land and built one of the first homes in the town. It was at this time that she pursued her passion for real estate. Ellen was a member of the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and held various positions within the church groups for many years. She also organized and saw to the completion of The Pathway to the Cross. Ellen was a beautiful soul and showed her grace and love to all who knew her. She was a woman of strong faith in God and family and a role model to all. Ellen taught and practiced kindness daily, lived life to the fullest and has forever left the hearts full of warmth and love. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Larry; son, Steve; life companion, Bill Eisenhamer; brother, Norman Gust; sisters, Betty Larson and Lola Nass. Ellen is survived by her granddaughter Ashley Chapman, CA; great-grandson Morrison Chapman, CA; sister, Janice Tanberg, NV; and brother, Earl Gust, CA; as well as a large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. A Gravesite memorial service to celebrate Ellen's life will be held Saturday November 4th, 2017, 10 a.m. at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
