Please share a memory of Gwendolyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gwendolyn Pflum, 96, of Lake Havasu City, passed away peacefully at midnight, October 1, at Lakeview Terrace, Lake Havasu City. Gwen was born April 6, 1921 in Tuscola, Illinois, daughter of Bob and Jessie Tingley. She married Walter Pflum on April 15, 1944 in Pampa, Texas while Walt was serving in the Army Air Corp. After WWII, Gwen and Walt lived in Tuscola until they retired and moved to Arizona. Gwen played the organ for Tuscola Congregational Church and managed the Gambles Hardware store that she and Walt owned while Walt also worked in management for the U. S. I. Corp. Gwen loved Lake Havasu City and was active in the Havasu Elks club. She and Walt were accomplished ballroom dancers and were often referred to as "Fred and Ginger" by friends. Gwen loved taking cruises, playing golf, cooking and trying new recipes, playing cards and partying with their many friends both in Illinois and Lake Havasu. Perhaps Gwen's greatest passion was her music. She had studied for years as a classical pianist and loved playing pop songs too on her piano and cherished Baldwin organ. Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Walt, her parents and one brother, Keith Tingley. Survivors include her son, Eric, of Eugene, Oregon; grandchildren, Erin Ralston, of Eugene, Oregon, Adam Pflum M.D. of Winston-Salem, North Carolina., Megan Zdan, of Nashville, Tenneessee; great grandchildren, Ella and Addi Ralston, of Eugene, Oregon and Ethan Pflum, of Winston-Salem. A small family memorial service for Gwen will be held with all her family members as they gather over the holidays in North Carolina. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
