Obituary of Alvin Paul Mailloux
On September 23, 2017, Alvin ‘Papa’ Mailloux passed away, free to again be with his ‘MeMe’ (Coyita), his wife of over seventy years. Born in Indiana, he spent most of his life in Kankakee, Illinois, with time in Reno, Nevada, and finally in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
His homes do not encompass the extent of his adventures, as he was fond of saying, “I’ve been around the world twice and talked to everybody once.” That he chose to serve his country as a United States Marine was indicative of his character.
It was also in Kankakee that Alvin nurtured his father’s small business into a thriving commercial painting service that employed dozens of people. His hobby was hunting and camping, but his true passion was spending time with good friends. Friendship was based on mutual love and respect, and based on these values, his friends easily numbered into the thousands. He was a fabulous dancer who always had girls waiting for the next dance. In his later years, the dancing went away but girls and women of all ages continued to treasure his company because of his knack for making them feel special and feel good about themselves.
It was in Kankakee that he raised three sons: Danny (Paula) Mailloux , Allen (Sheila) Mailloux, and Billy (Kimberly) Mailloux and three daughters: Madonna (Fred) Fennell, Rita (Larry) Wienholz, and Beverly (Bill) Davenport. Son Billy and daughter Madonna wait for him in Heaven. There are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and enough extended family to fill a small town.
Raise a glass or bottle to Papa! Mourn not his loss but remember his long, rich, wonderful life, lived on his terms, and remember the difference he made in the lives of those around him. TRUE STORY!
