Obituary of Leroy Elmo Underwood

Leroy E. Underwood passed away on September 21, 2017 in Lake
Havasu City, Arizona. He was 91 years old. He was born in San Diego,
California on December 4, 1925 to William and Elsie (Richardson)
Underwood.
Leroy is a WWII Veteran who served his country in the United States
Army during which, he earned a purple heart. He married his true love
Carita in Quartzsite, Arizona on June 22, 1947 and they were blessed
with 59 years together. They lived in Riverside and Lancaster, California,
where Leroy was a truck driver until he retired and moved to Lake
Havasu in 1994. He was a Diamondbacks baseball fan and enjoyed
NASCAR. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of
Elks in Lancaster, California.
Leroy is preceded in death by his wife; Carita Elizabeth Underwood; parents, William and Elsie Underwood; step-mother, Betty Underwood,
and son, Michael Leroy Underwood.
He is survived by his daughters; Karon (Michael) Cowan, Starla (Larry)
Whitney, and Deborah Cleare; brothers, Joe, Glen, and Sydney
Underwood; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Prestige
Assisted Living Expressions Memory Care Unit for all of the love, care,
and kindness they showed Leroy during his stay there.

held a place no one will ever fill."
A graveside funeral service will be held at Lake Havasu Memorial
Gardens, on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 12:00 pm.
