Obituary of Barbara Rosalie Volke
Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barbara Rosalie Volke, 87, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona passed away on September 12, 2017. She was born to Raymond and Emily Maina on February 23, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois.
After graduating Carl Shurz High School in January 1948, she moved from Chicago to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she met Arthur. They married on October 11, 1952. Together they had four children and lived in Hartland, Wisconsin before moving to Lake Havasu City in July of 1970.
Barbara was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, bowled for several years with the Womens League, and shared many good times with her Theater Guild friends, putting on plays.
She enjoyed bingo, painting, board games, crossword puzzles, and trips to the casino. Barbara was an avid reader and a frequent visitor to the library but most of all she loved watching her beloved Cubs baseball games. As a lifelong fan, she was overjoyed by their big win last year. We couldn't have been happier for her!
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ronald, and her husband of 61 years, Arthur, who passed away in 2013.
She is survived by her daughters, Michelle (John) Connolly, of Lake Havasu City and Sue (Scott) Long, of Missouri; sons, Russ (Diane) Volke, of Oregon and Fred (Melissa) Volke, of Arizona; grandchildren, Chris, Vanessa, Malia, Derek, Kirsten, and Jake; great-grandchild, Cameron.
"We love you mom!" "You'll be in our hearts forever!"
A private family service will be held in October. Donations can be made to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.
Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Thoughts and condolences can be sent to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com. To send a free card to the family, go to www.sendoutcards.com/lietzfraze.
