Obituary of Charles Donald Russell
Charles Donald “Don” Russell passed away on August 23, 2017 at the age of 74 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born to Charles and Frances (Kunkel) Russell on October 27, 1942 in Darby, Pennsylvania.
Don was proud to have served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married his soul mate, Cheryl (Brumfield) Ader, on the Colorado River’s Laughlin River Boat on October 10, 1987 and they shared 29 happy years together. Don worked for Alpha Beta/Ralphs Markets in Southern California for 31 years.
Before retiring to Havasu in 2006, Don lived in Running Springs, California where he was very active in community events and served as Honorary Mayor from 1984-1986. He was a member of the Elks Lodge. Don enjoyed boating, RVing, deep-sea fishing and, most of all, spending time with his wife. They had many RV adventures in Mexico, Canada, Alaska, and most of the United States.
Don and Cheryl worked 11 years during the summer months for American Land and Leaisure (a company that manages USFS campgrounds), most recently as Colorado Regional Managers.
Don is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Cheryl Russell. They did everything together. He will be very much missed by all who knew him.
