Obituary of Sylvia Jean Preston
Beautiful, giving, and loving. The most fashionable person you knew. Sylvia Jean Preston was born September 28, 1954 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She lived in Arizona most of her adult life, lived in California for 4 years, and returned to Arizona four months ago before passing on July 16, 2017.
Sylvia suffered from Alzheimer's disease but never, not once, complained about her illness. Sylvia was a giving person who would never hesitate to give to someone in need. She'd often cry at the sight of someone "having a hard time" … as she would say. Sylvia raised her children as a single mother but somehow always managed to keep them well fed, well dressed and well loved. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Sylvia amongst them "Don't judge…it's only for God to Judge" and "Everyone has their own way."
Sylvia was a stylish girly-girl who loved make-up, clothes, heels and dressing-up. She took fashion cues from no one, but was always best dressed in any room. Sylvia loved her family, handsome men, dancing, animals, Reese's and a good laugh... not necessarily in that order. She hated being cold or bored. She would never leave the house without wearing lipstick and being dressed to the nines.
Sylvia is survived by her mother, Harriet Jean Clark; sisters, Kathleen Roscoe, Christina Fischer, Elaine Sena, and Cindy Stewart; children, Laura Clark, Nathaniel Johns (aka wells), Candace Johns, and Jason Johns; grandchildren, Destinee, Landon, Lincoln, Kendrick and Olivia.
A Memorial Service will be at 3:00pm, on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. We hope you will dress to the nines to honor her.
Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Thoughts and condolences can be made to the Johns family at lietz-frazefuneralhome.com. To send a free card to the family, go to www.sendoutcards.com/lietzfraze.
