Jack was born on February 21, 1926 in a birthing house in Oceanside, CA to Adolph & Thelma (Lawrence) Carpenter. He spent his first 18 years between San Francisco and Oceanside graduating on June 6, 1944 and immediately leaving for boot camp at Coronado. Jacked loved the water so he picked the Navy. He spent his Navy years 1944-1946 in Pacific Theater. After that he lived in Oceanside and moved to 29 Palms in 1953. Jack worked as a surveyor on the base and had a Muffler shop in town. He had 5 children with his wife Jeannie, Kim, Tracy, Laura, Kevin, and Amy. In 1963 Jack and Ethel married and Ethel's three children took the name of Carpenter. They are Maryann (Carpenter) Moore, Paul Firth Carpenter and James Edward Carpenter. Jack & Ethel have 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He loved fast cars, boats & planes and owned many of all three. Jack was a founding member of the Oilers car club of Carlsbad, the Flames car club of 29 Palms and 23 year member Relics & Rods. On June 6, while driving home from Smith's Jack went into Cardiac Arrest while behind the wheel. Thank you to the man who started CPR , the Nurse Practitioner Chris and the Paramedics for bringing him back and giving him 25 more days with his soul-mate Ethel . Jack also left behind his beloved brother Danny Garrigan (Dennis Adair) whom he raised from infancy with their mother Thelma. Bowling was a huge love and on the day Ethel purchased a walker for him he bowled a 268 scratch at age 89. The family would like to thank Hospice of Havasu and the Polidori House for the greatest end of life care. In lieu of flowers please donate to Hospice of Havasu and the Polidori House. Services will be held on July 22, 2017 at the Hilltop Community Church at 1pm with a reception to follow at the Parks & Recreation Center Relics & Rods Room.
