When I went to Marine Corp boot camp in January 1966, Pvt. Yost, as I knew him, was assigned to me to deliver both of us to the Marine Corp base in San Diego. He and I both went through boot camp together in the same platoon. We graduated from Honor Platoon 220 during March 1966.
After boot we were separated into different ITR Companies and I lost touch with him.
A funny story about him was that he wore a Marine tanker jacket on the flight down to MCRD. When we arrived the drill instructors gave him a really hard time above wearing that jacket. I felt really bad for him getting the business from the drill instructors for something that seemed so petty.
I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Yost, he was a good man.
Semper Fi Pvt. Yost.
