Shirley Ann Wayda, 80, went peacefully home to her Lord and Savior, on April 24, 2017 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Born September 21, 1936 in Diamond Grove, Missouri, she was the daughter of Hugh and Hazel (Carrick) Riggs.
Shirley was born on what is now known as the "George Washington Carver National Monument." At 12 years old, she moved with her family to San Diego. At 19, she met the love of her life, John Wayda, and married him on May 7, 1956. They were married 61 years and raised three children. They resided in San Diego until they moved to North Hollywood in 1961 where John began his 33 year career as a teacher with LA Unified. They moved to Newhall in 1970 and Westlake Village in 1978. Upon John's retirement in 1994, they relocated to Lake Havasu City, AZ where John and Shirley enjoyed many motor home trips and other activities.
Singing was a major passion of Shirley's since she was 8 years old. She was in many choirs, including church choirs, growing up. She was a member of the Sweet Adeline s for many years and, finally, belonged to the Colomonde Chorus, a Lake Havasu Women's Barbershop.
