Daneitta "Kay" Wendel
Kay Wendel passed away at her home on April 20, 2017. She was born on June 16, 1945 in Lenora, Kansas to her parents, Olen and Jessie Craig. She was one of thirteen children.
Kay married a Marine in 1967 and moved to Camp Pendleton, where she had her one and only child, a daughter named Kimberly. From there, the family moved to Hawthorne, Nevada where Kay went to work putting fuses in bombs at the Ammunition Depot. She earned top secret clearance. After a few years handling bombs, the young mother decided to pursue a safer career and eventually moved back to Kansas and began nursing school. She graduated Valedictorian and went to work as a NICU nurse in Salina, Kansas. Babies were her specialty and she loved children. Throughout the years she had three granddaughters and two great grandchildren (the apples of the eye).
Her story telling skills were the highlight of every family gathering, keeping us laughing nonstop. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.
She leaves behind her daughter, Kimberly Craig; granddaughters, Kristie (Kyle) Bliss, Kassandra Stallard (Paul Robles) and Kellee Englert; great-granddaughter, Azlynne "Krickitt" Bliss; grandson, Halen "Beefy" Bliss, all of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; brothers, (twin) Dannie Ray Craig, of Phillipsburg, Kansas; Lynn Craig, Phillipsburg, Kansas, and Richie Craig, of Wichita Kansas; sisters, Marlene Holloway, of Twin Falls, Idaho, Tammy Sharon, of Wichita, Kansas, and Jackie Switzer, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.
