Obituary of Martin John Silva

Martin John Silva (Marty) was born November 17, 1955 and passed away on April 14, 2017. He was 61 years of age. Marty was born and raised in Sacramento, California. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School. He became a concrete foreman at a young age and worked for Buzz Oates Enterprises for 32 years. When Marty retired four years ago, he relocated to Lake Havasu City, Arizona to join some of his siblings. Although he had retired, the kind of work ethic Mary had, did not just vanish. He poured his attention into his beautiful home and has at least one project going at all times. He also helped out his siblings with their many projects. He was always there for his family. Marty also lavished all of his attention on his beloved dogs, his #1 Cody and his adopted pup names Chevy. When it came to his beautiful home, it was clear that family was the most important thing to Marty. He dedicated a whole room to just family pictures. Marty was a great man and a kind soul who will be missed terribly by his beloved family. Martin is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marcia Silva. Martin was the sixth out of ten children and is survived by all nine of his siblings; Christine (John) Collins, Nanette (Bob) Friedland, Carolyn Silva, Elinor Cleve, Robert Silva Jr., Marcia (Brian) Amacher, Joseph Silva, John (Shelley) Silva, and Colleen Rose. In addition to his siblings, Marty had a special relationship with his nephew, Ricky Cleve, to whom he was a father figure and a role model. Also dear Uncle Marty is survived by seventeen other nieces and nephews. Martin will be laid to rest with his mother and father in Sacramento, California. There will be a viewing Tuesday, April 25th from 11:00AM-6:00PM at W.F. Gormley and Sons, 2015 Capitol Avenue. Wednesday, April 26th, a Mass at Holy Spirit Church at 11:00AM, 3159 Land Park Drive. Graveside burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 6700 21st Avenue. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society (westernarizonahumane.org) or any Humane Society you prefer.
